Founded in 1952, Ainsworth Associates Mechanical Engineers primary focus has been the design of mechanical systems for educational facilities, telecommunications centers, hospital and healthcare facilities, high-rise hotel/casinos, computer data centers, designing with LEED principles, and performing energy studies. A number of projects have included complete facility master plans on new projects or existing system evaluations and future master plans for existing facilities. A large portion of our projects are contracted directly with facilities for central plant system upgrades or modifications. An extensive list of ground loop heat exchange projects are also a part of our resume. The firm’s staff currently consists of fifteen design professionals along with associated draftspersons and administrative personnel. Of those fifteen, five staff members are licensed engineers. The firm also consists of five LEED Accredited Professionals and three designers Certified in Plumbing Design (CPDs).
Aztech Geothermal was formed to address the need for a comprehensive technology, service and installation provider of environmentally friendly geothermal heat pump systems. Aztech Geothermal is the only firm in Upstate New York to have the full complement of experienced geologists, professional engineers and our own highly trained field personnel all under one roof. We are located in the Aztech Technologies, Inc. building, Aztech Tech is an environmental services and remediation firm with crews that have drilled thousands of wells and excavated hundreds of sites since 1997.
With the escalating price of natural gas and other fuels, geothermal heating and cooling has become an increasingly popular alternative for residential and commercial applications. Where conventional methods burn fossil fuels to create heat, the geothermal process simply harnesses the existing energy of the earth. A mixture of water and non-toxic antifreeze is constantly circulated through a closed loop of pipe buried in the ground in vertical or horizontal bore holes. In winter, the earth’s heat is absorbed by the circulating liquid. Ground source heat pumps transfer this heat to the building; in summer, the process is reversed, thereby dissipating the heat from inside the building into the ground.
Bertram Drilling Corp., and it’s sister company, Bertram Drilling Inc., of Billings, Montana, have been involved in the drilling of bore holes and installation of closed loops and geothermal equipment for many years.

Brower Mechanical was established in 1979 and now serves residential and commercial HVAC needs in communities within Sutter, Yolo, Sacramento and El Dorado counties from its base in Rocklin, Placer County California.
Brower staff are comfort and efficiency specialists, and they focus on heating, air conditioning, water heating, solar electricity, and energy audits of homes and commercial sites. George Dugan has been a Technical Sales Manager for the Drilling Products division of CETCO since 2000 and is based in Dayton, TX. George has worked in drilling-related industries for over 40 years, working with drilling fluids, drilling fluid recycling equipment, and liquids/solids separation (dewatering) equipment in a multitude of industries. George has been actively involved in teaching continuing education classes for the national ground water association as well as for state ground water associations throughout the United States since 2000.
Prior to joining CETCO, George spent four years working for a horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment manufacturer, providing technical support and training for a multitude of HDD services. George recently earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business with a major in marketing through the University of Phoenix.

Kent Penning is a Renaissance man who loves what he does—helping to multiply an increasing number of satisfied customers from the work of Cold Craft, his company in the southwestern San Francisco Bay Area, established in 1991. Dan co-founded Gaia Geothermal at the beginning of the millennium to help the industry design world class geo systems using the Ground Loop Design (GLD) software tool.
Chad has worked for Geothermal Resource Technologies for nearly two decades and is a double mechanical engineering degree holder. Thermal conductivity testing is the central focus of GRTI, and without accurate information in advance of a large geo project, you’re just throwing darts while blindfolded.
You can have a nice building with excellent geo equipment and controls inside—but without knowing the conductivity of underground formations meeting your geo heat exchanger, you’re risking spending too much on drilling and looping, letting the ground temperature escape design parameters over time, or degrading the equipment’s capacity to deliver heating and cooling.
