With the escalating price of natural gas and other fuels, geothermal heating and cooling has become an increasingly popular alternative for residential and commercial applications. Where conventional methods burn fossil fuels to create heat, the geothermal process simply harnesses the existing energy of the earth. A mixture of water and non-toxic antifreeze is constantly circulated through a closed loop of pipe buried in the ground in vertical or horizontal bore holes. In winter, the earth’s heat is absorbed by the circulating liquid. Ground source heat pumps transfer this heat to the building; in summer, the process is reversed, thereby dissipating the heat from inside the building into the ground.
Bertram Drilling Corp., and it’s sister company, Bertram Drilling Inc., of Billings, Montana, have been involved in the drilling of bore holes and installation of closed loops and geothermal equipment for many years.

Commercial projects includes government, institutional and private facilities, from small specialized applications of less than 1,000 ft², to multipurpose facility projects of over 500,000 ft². Our primary client base are mechanical engineers and architects who require experienced closed loop ground heat exchange design support.
Over the past few years Major Geothermal has been increasingly retained by numerous end-users for forensic evaluation of ground source heat pump systems including expert witness work for construction defect litigation. Beth Morelli currently concentrates on much more than just sales at Air Connection, Santa Rosa, the business she runs with husband Mark. Since its beginnings as a commercial heating and air conditioning firm in 1996, Air Connection made a near-exclusive commitment to geothermal in 2001, when both principals decided this technology was our (and their) future.
She helps guide Air Connection as a geo installation and service company, specializing in loop field engineering, installation, and repair. Air Connection is a long-time affiliate of IGHSPA, GeoExchange, Redwood Empire ASHRAE, and North Coast Builders Exchange, and serves customers throughout California, including many projects in the San Francisco Bay Area and Napa Valley. Beth continues as CaliforniaGeo’s chief financial advisor and Treasurer, and was a founding member of the organization.

Bruce is the Founding Majority Partner (with Ric Rowlatt and Pete Frigo) of Sierra Eco Systems (SES). It follows that the company’s strategy is a focus on business, construction, and technology—reflecting the combined skills of the partnership. He is headquartered in Genoa, Nevada and SES serves a growing customer territory westward into northern California and southward into southern California.
Bruce has experience hatching a number of start-ups as an entrepreneur and his concentration on SES expansion drives a growing satisfied customer list. Like many geo supporters, he realizes that continued growth of geothermal systems is enhanced by exponential word-of-mouth.
